Emily Robinson, CPA

TAX MANAGER

Emily Robinson is a Tax Manager at Willis Johnson Wealth, which allows her to work with various clients and strategically optimize tax planning for their unique circumstances. This role enables her to run scenarios for clients about the potential tax implications associated with the investment options they’re considering.

Emily believes that helping people save money in taxes through proper tax planning and preparation can offer them greater financial freedom for other business ventures or hobbies.

As a Tax Manager, Emily partners with Wealth Managers to make recommendations to clients to maximize tax savings, offer tax projections for new ventures proposed by the client, and accurately prepare and file clients’ tax returns. She believes that proper tax planning requires an in-depth understanding of her client’s needs and wants and comprehensive knowledge of tax laws. Knowing how tax laws change and how the changes can impact clients is Emily’s key focus within her role. She knows she’s doing her job well when clients are happy and see that the tax planning they’ve accomplished is paying off.

After graduating from the University of Houston’s Master’s program in Accountancy, Emily worked in public accounting before joining the Willis Johnson Wealth team. Throughout her time in public accounting, she learned about numerous types of returns, the myriad of potential tax situations that can arise over time, and how to approach these challenges to achieve the best results. Alongside her previous role, Emily studied for and passed the Certified Public Accountants exam to become a CPA professional, which she considers one of her most significant accomplishments.

Emily is a proud member of the Texas Society of CPAs, which focuses on educating tax professionals to keep them up-to-date with changing tax laws and offers a platform to seek support and ideas from other CPAs for new tax issues. She's also a member of the Houston Estate and Financial Forum (HEFF), a professional organization that focuses on estate planning.

Beyond the office, Emily enjoys being active and spending time outdoors or with her dogs. She spends much of her time cooking with friends or spending time with loved ones.
