Maxwell Watson, CPA

Maxwell Watson is a Senior Tax Associate who joined Willis Johnson Wealth’s in-house tax team in the summer of 2026. In his role, Maxwell supports the tax team through tax preparation, planning, research, and client-focused analysis designed to help clients make more informed financial decisions.

Maxwell believes effective tax planning starts with understanding the full picture. Taxes are often one of the most important pieces of a client’s financial life, and he enjoys helping connect the technical details of tax work to the larger planning conversations that matter most to clients. His goal is to provide accurate, thoughtful, and proactive support that helps clients feel more confident and prepared.

Before joining Willis Johnson Wealth, Maxwell worked in public accounting, where he gained experience serving partnerships and individuals across a variety of tax matters, including compliance, planning, research, and state tax considerations. Through that experience, he developed a strong technical foundation and a detail-oriented approach to client service.

Maxwell approaches his role with curiosity, precision, and a client-first mindset. He believes great service comes from being thorough, responsive, and willing to dig into the details while never losing sight of the client’s broader goals. He is excited to continue growing in tax while applying that knowledge in a financial planning environment where tax strategy is part of a larger, coordinated approach.

Maxwell earned his undergraduate degree and Master of Accounting from Tulane University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant. His educational background and public accounting experience allow him to bring a strong tax perspective to the firm’s broader planning process.

Outside of work, Maxwell enjoys biking, playing guitar, cooking for friends and family, and taking on new projects. Whether he is learning something new, spending time outdoors, or gathering people around a meal, he enjoys opportunities to connect with others and keep growing.
