Who's Available Day-to-Day
Starting on the Tax Operations team pushed me outside of my comfort zone and challenged me to grow in ways that have prepared me to become a well-versed advisor. Without this program and the support of exceptional managers and coworkers, I would not have had the opportunity to learn and gain confidence in areas of the business that once felt intimidating.
The experiences and lessons I have gained will not only help me succeed in future roles at WJW but will also continue to shape me into a more capable and confident professional.
Being able to rotate through different departments has shown me how each team operates on its own and how they work together to serve clients. Each rotation builds on the last, so I bring what I learned on one team into the next.
My time in Investment Operations changed how I think about my career. Seeing the back-office work that keeps everything running gave me a clear view of how it differs from front-office work and why both matter. Along the way, I've become a clearer, more concise communicator and built relationships across departments, which has given me a better sense of where I want to grow. To anyone considering the Residency Program: plenty of resources can help you succeed, and everyone here is willing to help you grow.
Through the rotational program, I have been able to observe the attention to detail required across all departments to meet the operational needs of WJW. I have worked closely with the Tax, Wealth Management, Investments, and Marketing teams to meet goals and complete projects. Through the education incentive program, I have identified that I would like to become a CFP® professional and WJW is helping me actualize that goal.
Most of my professional growth here has come from collaborating with so many individuals to complete projects and incorporate ideas from team members across all sides of the business. Change happens here, and input is taken from team members at every level. Having other driven young professionals in the program with me has been motivating and inspiring, as many of us are running towards similar career and life goals.
The onboarding rotations gave me the opportunity to meet with prospective clients and build my skills, especially in being flexible to change on the fly. Those conversations helped me get more comfortable asking questions, listening closely, and adapting as new topics came up.
I started to see how preparation and flexibility go hand in hand, especially when each client brings a different set of needs and priorities to the table. With each meeting, I gained more confidence in my ability to contribute to the conversation and put what I was learning into practice.
