Lucy Gift

SR. TRADER

Lucy Gift currently serves as Sr. Trader at Willis Johnson Wealth. In this role, she plays a pivotal part in the firm’s investment operations by ensuring execution excellence, protecting the firm from operational and regulatory risk, and supporting portfolio management and operational outcomes. Her focus on leveraging technology to strengthen the team’s capabilities, strong analytical skills, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment contribute to her success in the role. Whether rebalancing a new client account, raising cash for an upcoming expense, or executing model trades across hundreds of accounts at once, Lucy prioritizes precision, efficiency, and client impact.

Her dedication extends beyond day-to-day trading, as she is also a member of the Willis Johnson Wealth Investment Committee. She actively participates in weekly meetings focused on developing and monitoring portfolios using evidence-based investment strategies and collaborates with the team to ensure goals are executed accurately and efficiently.

Lucy graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University in May 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in business and dual minors in financial planning and psychology. During her time at Texas A&M, she was actively involved in student organizations and leadership programs, including serving as Vice President of the Financial Planning Student Association, Ambassador for the Financial Planning Program, Group XXXVIII Fellow in the Mays Business Fellows program, and Treasurer of Aggie Royals, a women’s service and leadership organization.

Her career with the firm began in 2019 as a Wealth Management Intern before she joined full time in 2020 as a Client Operations Specialist. In that role, she gained valuable insight into the behind-the-scenes operations that support clients and discovered her strengths aligned with the investment side of the business. After gaining more experience working closely with the investment team, Lucy pivoted to a trading-specialized role in 2022 and has since helped lead initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across the team’s operations.

Lucy embodies trust, integrity, and generosity as her core values. She strives to exemplify these ideals in her daily work and values the opportunity to collaborate with a talented team while continuously expanding her knowledge in the industry. Her dedication to professional growth is evident in her career milestones and accomplishments, including passing the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ exam in March 2021 and earning the CFP® designation in March 2023.

Before heading off to be an Aggie, Lucy was born and raised in Austin, Texas, and enjoys visiting her family there. Despite the traffic and humidity, Lucy quickly grew to love Houston upon moving in May 2020 and is proud to call it her home away from home. When the stock market is closed, Lucy enjoys fitness classes, exploring Houston’s food scene, and working her way through various cookbooks. When the weather is right, she also loves golfing with loved ones at her favorite municipal course, Lions, in Austin.
