Ray Thomas, CPA

Ray Thomas joined Willis Johnson Wealth in 2026 as a Senior Tax Associate. In his role, he provides strategic tax guidance, identifies opportunities to improve clients’ tax positions, and helps proactively address tax risks and complex tax matters.

Ray is deeply committed to integrity and transparency throughout the tax process. He works to translate complex tax matters into clear, actionable insights so clients can better understand their situation and feel more confident in their financial decisions. His approach is rooted in accuracy, accountability, and attention to detail.

As part of Willis Johnson Wealth’s in-house tax team, Ray works closely with wealth advisors to incorporate tax considerations into clients’ broader financial and wealth management strategies. He also monitors changes in tax laws and regulations to assess how they may affect clients and their overall financial plans.

Ray defines success by the role he plays in supporting the firm’s long-term client relationships through dependable tax guidance and a consistently high standard of service. He takes pride in being a dependable partner for both clients and colleagues and in creating a tax experience that is organized, responsive, and as seamless as possible. Ray actively tries to create an environment where clients feel comfortable being open and candid.

Ray earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Beloit College and his Master of Professional Accountancy from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He passed the CPA exam in 2021, which he considers one of his greatest professional accomplishments. Before joining Willis Johnson Wealth, Ray spent 10 years in public accounting, beginning his career focused on globally mobile populations with international tax compliance needs before transitioning into a broader tax generalist role serving clients across a variety of industries.

Outside the office, Ray enjoys cooking, golfing, lifting, playing chess, watching Texans football, trying new restaurants, attending live music and concerts, and spending time with family and friends. He is also a proud plant dad and enjoys The Moth Story Slams.
